Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Resident Engineer for our San Bernardino, CA, or Irvine, CA offices. You will provide technical leadership on complex construction management projects, supervising engineering and inspection, and coordinating with contractors and owners in Inland Empire and Southern California.

The role requires a California PE, BSCE, 12+ years of experience including 5 in a Resident Engineer role, and strong knowledge of road/rail projects and safety practices.

Qualifications

• BSCE or related degree
• Current California PE license
• 12+ years of experience, 5 in Resident Engineer role
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and materials
• Ability to read contract documents
• Valid CA driver's license
• Experience with railroads
• Commitment to safety and compliance with policies
• Must pass WSP motor vehicle screening

Responsibilities

• Full understanding of public construction contracts for the state highway system and local agencies
• Responding to and resolving field construction issues
• Conducting meetings between contractor, owner, utilities and other project parties
• Inspecting, documenting, and coordinating field tests of construction materials
• Analyzing construction costs of changed conditions and drafting change orders
• Preparing constructability reviews and reports
• Assuming field engineering, contract administration, inspection, testing, surveying, and quality control on projects
• Supervising field inspection and field office personnel
• Representing projects at meetings and conferences
• Upholding ethical decision-making regarding funds and resources and adhering to policies
• Performing additional responsibilities as required
