Job summary

UNICO Engineering, Inc. in Northern California seeks a Resident Engineer to serve as owner’s representative on transportation construction projects.

You will lead client and contractor meetings, review plans and specs, and ensure compliance with contract documents while coordinating with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience in transportation or related projects, a CA PE license, and strong leadership and communication skills to manage cost,

Qualifications

• BS in Construction Management, Civil, or Structural Engineering.
• Registered Professional Engineer in California.
• 10+ years of industry experience in a related discipline.
• 5 years managing construction projects or working as a resident engineer for a public agency.
• Possess a valid driver's license and clean DMV record.

Responsibilities

• Serve as owner’s representative and run client and contractor meetings.
• Review plans and specs and ensure compliance with documents.
• Provide project documentation (letters, RFI/submittal responses, change orders).
• Oversee field inspection and supervise project inspection teams.
• Maintain project controls including cost and schedule management.
• Direct and supervise field construction activities, staff, and coordination with clients.
