Johns Manville in Littleton, CO is seeking a Senior Research Chemist to lead and participate in technical projects, develop new products and formulations for Engineered Products and Insulation Systems, and run pilot and plant trials. The role requires a Bachelor's in polymer science, chemistry, or materials science with 5+ years of R&D; a Master’s or PhD with 2+ years is preferred.

Travel 10–20% and strong communication skills are essential.

Qualificações

• Bachelor's degree in polymer science, chemistry, materials science or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of research and development experience.
• Master's degree or PhD with 2+ years of relevant industrial experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of chemical reactions and techniques for chemical synthesis and characterization.
• Extensive knowledge of chemical analysis and mechanical evaluation.
• Experience with statistical tools such as Design of Experiments (DOE) and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).
• Experience in working directly with production operations and business partners.
• Proven ability to use multi-disciplinary approach for problem solving.
• Proven project management skills.
• Proven ability to lead cross functional project teams and to meet aggressive program deliverables.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Plant trial experience preferred.
• Moderate to heavy travel required (10-20%).

Responsabilidades

• Lead cross-functional teams to execute technical projects in binders and nonwovens.
• Travel to manufacturing plants to apply technical expertise to product or process development projects.
• Present project updates internally to peers or externally to customers.
• Provide internal technical service for operations when product/process issues or customer complaints arise for existing and new products.
• Hands-on work with laboratory and pilot equipment.
• Use statistical tools to design experiments and analyze data.
• Develop structure/process/property relationships using material characterization techniques.
