Job summary

Vibrant Planet is seeking an Application Engineer to build and evolve our wildfire resilience and utilities platforms. You will work across our Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView stack and a Postgres + Mapbox data layer to translate Pyrologix-science into intuitive tools for land managers, fire districts, and utility planners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production web apps.
• Proficiency in Elixir (OTP) and Phoenix framework.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL and SQL; schema design, migrations.
• Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship; remote work allowed.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship full-stack features across Elixir/Phoenix/LiveView and Postgres.
• Work with large geospatial datasets to surface planning and insights for end users.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to scope and deliver owner-facing workflows for land managers and utilities.
• Own features end-to-end from design to deployment and monitoring.
• Contribute to platform reliability via testing, observability, and Sev on-call participation.
• Collaborate with Environmental Analysis and Infrastructure to integrate geospatial models into the app.
• Mentor engineers and participate in technical interviews as the team grows.
