Job summary

Howden is seeking a Senior Casualty Claims Examiner for Construction Defect to independently manage low to moderate exposure claims in residential and commercial construction. Remote work option with 0–10% travel is offered.

You will initiate contact with relevant parties, analyze coverage, draft position letters, and coordinate with defense counsel and experts while monitoring litigation plans and budgets. Bachelor's degree is preferred and 2–7 years of related experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 2–7 years construction defect claims experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of industry trends and legal developments affecting claims handling.
• Ability to manage multiple claims and competing priorities.
• Ability to adapt to evolving regulatory and legal environments.

Responsibilities

• Manage low to moderate exposure construction defect claims involving residential and commercial projects.
• Initiate timely contact with all relevant parties upon claim assignment.
• Analyze insurance policies to determine applicable coverage.
• Draft and issue coverage position letters.
• Coordinate with defense counsel and experts while managing litigation plans and budgets.
• Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation of all claim activities and decisions.
• Collaborate with underwriting and internal teams to share insights and coordinate claim strategies.
• Provide feedback to business partners to support continuous improvement in claims handling.
