Job summary

Bright Vision Technologies is seeking an experienced Autonomous Systems Engineer to design, build, and integrate software for autonomous robots. You will work across the robotics stack from sensor integration to high-level perception and planning.

The role requires 6+ years in robotics software, strong C++/Python skills, and hands-on ROS/ROS 2 experience. Remote U.S. work with full-time Direct W2 status. Sponsorship details apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Five+ years of robotics software engineering experience.
• Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
• Hands-on experience with ROS or ROS 2 in production projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop robotics software in C++ and Python with real-time performance.
• Design and integrate sensor data pipelines (cameras, LiDAR, IMUs).
• Implement perception, localization, and mapping (SLAM, sensor fusion).
• Develop motion planning, control, and trajectory generation.
• Build behavioral systems using state machines or trees.
• Integrate ROS/ROS 2 with hardware and embedded systems.
• Implement safety-critical patterns (watchdogs, fault detection).
• Build simulation environments (Gazebo, Isaac Sim).
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and ML engineers.
• Design and execute field tests and data collection.
• Maintain architecture diagrams and runbooks for onboarding.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead code/design reviews.
• Evaluate new robotics technologies and frameworks.
