Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert Co. in Indianapolis seeks a Sr. Relay Technician to lead protection and control testing, commissioning, and project execution for substation and industrial systems. You will guide field teams, analyze protection schemes, and ensure safe, reliable operation while engaging with customers.

The position emphasizes technical leadership, safety, and hands-on detector of relay issues, with opportunities for growth and certification across projects.

Qualifications

• Pre-employment drug screen required for safety-sensitive role.
• Satisfactory criminal background check is required.
• Must be able to work overtime and travel out of town.
• Valid driver's license with safe driving record.
• Hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing and repairing protective relays.
• Knowledge of relay test software.
• Physical ability to climb ladders and lift up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead safety briefings and enforce safety policies on job sites.
• Analyze protection schemes for power circuits and related components.
• Install, commission, test and validate substation relay panels and changes.
• Execute advanced end-to-end and functional testing with relay test equipment.
• Read, interpret and validate protection schematics and configurations.
• Develop project execution plans and coordinate field activities.
• Interface with customers and stakeholders to report status and resolve issues.
