Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing is seeking an experienced technician to test, troubleshoot, and program protective relays and metering equipment in energized substation environments. You will interpret electrical schematics, coordinate with multiple teams, and ensure safety standards are met while maintaining equipment performance.

The role requires extensive field work, domestic and international travel up to 50%, and a strong focus on accuracy in test reporting and documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 10+ years of electrical experience.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%–50%.
• Possess a valid/active U.S. Work Authorization.

Responsibilities

• Proficiently uses hand, power tools, meters and other test equipment in energized rooms to install, maintain and program protective relays and wiring.
• Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams and substation drawings; inspections.
• Programs and operates test equipment; follows safe work practices per the safety handbook.
• Commissions new relay and metering installations.
• Coordinates testing, troubleshooting and repairs with other department personnel.
• Maintains and tests relays and related equipment such as standby generators and display meters.
