Job summary

U.S. Electrical Testing is seeking a skilled technician to install, maintain, and program protective relays and metering equipment across field sites.

The role involves working with energized rooms, vaults, and substations, interpreting electrical diagrams, and ensuring safety standards are met. The ideal candidate has extensive electrical testing experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

  • Significant electrical testing experience and knowledge of protective relaying.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25-50% domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Proficiently uses hand and power tools, meters and test equipment in energized electrical rooms, vaults, and substations to install, maintain, repair and program protective relays and wiring.
  • Interprets schematic, wiring diagrams, and substation drawings; reviews and corrects as needed.
  • Programs and operates test equipment and adheres to safe work practices per the company safety handbook.
  • Commissions new relay and metering installations.
  • Coordinates testing, troubleshooting and repairs with other department personnel.
  • Performs maintenance and testing of relays and related equipment.
  • Troubleshoots, repairs and replaces faulty components.
  • Participates in emergency callouts.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
