Job summary

AHCCCS seeks a Deputy General Counsel - Regulatory in Phoenix, AZ. This senior attorney will oversee the regulatory and policy team within the Office of General Counsel and provide strategic legal counsel on complex state and federal issues related to Medicaid programs.

Responsibilities include rulemaking, contract review, privacy compliance, and guiding executives through high-stakes disputes and negotiations. Remote work within Arizona may be available.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
• Current license to practice law in Arizona and maintenance of license.
• Experience in health law or government leadership preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal counsel to the AHCCCS on complex, high-profile subjects.
• Lead and manage the Office of General Counsel regulatory and policy team.
• Draft and negotiate Medicaid State plan, waivers, contracts, and intergovernmental agreements.
• Oversee rulemaking, public records requests, privacy issues, and director decisions.
