Job summary

The Arizona Department of Health Services seeks an Administrative Counsel Senior to provide in-house legal support to the General Counsel’s Office and to the Agency Executive Team. The role coordinates between the Agency, the Attorney General's office, and outside counsel, responding to inquiries and guiding policy and documents related to administrative hearings.

Responsibilities include overseeing appealable actions, tracking records, and handling subpoenas and confidentiality issues.

Qualifications

• Has JD from ABA-accredited law school and is licensed to practice in Arizona.
• Experience analyzing complex programs or legal documents is preferred.
• Ability to interpret statutes, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Oversee, review, and issue appealable agency actions and official notices.
• Provide in-house legal support to the Agency Executive Team and liaise with Attorney General's office.
• Respond to management inquiries, conduct legal research, and advise on agency issues.
• Coordinate responses to subpoenas, lawsuits, and confidentiality/privacy matters.
