Job summary
The State of Arizona AHCCCS Administration seeks a Senior Associate General Counsel to provide legal counsel on the AHCCCS Program and guide regulatory initiatives, including rulemaking. The role collaborates with the regulatory unit and divisions, drafting complex documents and interfacing with state and federal entities.
Led by the Office of General Counsel, the team supports procurement, statutory analysis, and policy development while offering leadership in a dynamic public health program
Qualifications
- Experience with administrative hearing and rulemaking processes.
- Strong legal research methods and practical application in health care programs.
- Knowledge of AHCCCS programs, statutes, and policy development.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently and in teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal counsel and business advice to AHCCCS divisions; draft complex legal documents.
- Review, negotiate, and prepare contracts and intergovernmental agreements; advise on disputes.
- Review statutes/regulations; assess impacts on the program and agency.
- Supervise staff; prepare case status and statistical reports.
- Review Administrative Law Judge decisions and assist with Director/Final decisions.
