Job summary

Isle of Wight County Parks and Recreation seeks a Recreation Specialist- Senior Programs to coordinate activities, events, and programs for adults 55 and older and county residents. You will work under the Recreation Manager to ensure quality programming.

The role covers logistics, administration, community outreach, budget awareness, and safety compliance, with opportunities to develop new senior services and partner with community organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or related field with 1 year of experience (or equivalent).
• Work experience in a supervisory role is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan activities, events, and programs for adults 55 and older.
• Assist with program administration and information distribution.
• Attend organizational meetings and provide program information.
• Assess community needs to identify new programs and services.
• Enter program activities into the registration database.
• Promote programs through social media, newsletters, and events.
• Maintain relationships with senior centers and community organizations.
• Manage budget within assigned unit/division.
• Observe safety and health policies.
