Job summary

St Mary's County Government is seeking a Recreation Program Manager to oversee complex department programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and supervise staff. Responsibilities include budgeting, grant management, and public liaison with regional agencies.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of related experience, with a preferred Certified Parks and Recreation Professional credential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; Five years or more of related experience; Or equivalent training/education/experience.
• Certified Parks and Recreation Professional is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, plan, schedule, monitor, and supervise large and complex department-specific programs.
• Monitor compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures related to programs.
• Monitor staff performance relative to the program.
• Prepare correspondence and reports using Microsoft Office and recreation registration software.
• Liaise with local, regional, and state organizations related to the program.
• Perform fiscal planning and manage the assigned program and grant allocations.
• Develop, implement and supervise a gymnastics facility with USAG team, classes, wellness/fitness rooms and pickleball.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff and contractors; ensure programs are self-supporting.
• Plan and adhere to program budgets; promote and publicize programs.
• Coordinate over 500 youth and adult recreation classes, programs, camps, and events annually.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
