Job summary

Isle of Wight County is recruiting for a full-time Recreation Specialist - Senior Programs within the Parks and Recreation Department. The role supports adults 55+ and county residents by coordinating activities, events, and programs under the supervision of the Recreation Manager.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or related field and at least one year of experience; supervisory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation and Leisure Services or related field with 1 year of experience.
• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs logistical operation of program sites including coordination of all components and supervision of staff and participants.
• Assists with program administration and prepares/distributes program information.
• Attends organizational meetings, provides input and program information to staff.
• Develops relationships with senior centers, community organizations and agencies serving older adults.
• Manages payments, purchases, inventory and budget within assigned unit/division.
