Job summary

GPAC, recruiting on behalf of a well-established reinforcing steel company, seeks a Steel Rebar Estimator to support pre-construction by preparing accurate and competitive bids for reinforcing steel projects. Responsibilities include analyzing drawings and specs, performing material takeoffs, reviewing bar sizes and placements, and coordinating with vendors and project teams.

3+ years estimating experience in rebar required; Excel proficiency and familiarity with estimating software are a plus;

Qualifications

• 3+ years estimating experience in rebar or reinforcing steel.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience with material takeoffs and detailed estimates.
• Strong understanding of rebar sizes, grades, shapes, quantities, and placement requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for reinforcing steel projects.
• Analyze drawings, specifications, placing drawings, and bid documents.
• Perform material takeoffs and quantity estimates.
• Review bar sizes, shapes, quantities, grades, laps, splices, and requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Collaborate with project managers, detailers, field teams, and customers.
• Utilize estimating software to prepare bids and proposals.
• Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering discussions.
• Track project changes and update estimates.
• Maintain bid documentation and communicate estimating details to the project team.
