Job summary

GPAC, recruiting on behalf of a well-established reinforcing steel company, seeks a Steel Rebar Estimator to support pre-construction by preparing accurate and competitive bids for reinforcing steel projects. Responsibilities include analyzing drawings and specs, performing material takeoffs, reviewing bar sizes and placements, and coordinating with vendors and project teams.

3+ years estimating experience in rebar required; Excel proficiency and familiarity with estimating software are a plus;

Qualifications

• 3+ years estimating experience in rebar or reinforcing steel.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience with material takeoffs and detailed estimates.
• Strong understanding of rebar sizes, grades, shapes, quantities, and placement requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus.

Steel Rebar EstimatorAbout the Opportunity

GPAC is actively recruiting on behalf of a well-established reinforcing steel company known for delivering high-quality rebar fabrication and installation services. We are seeking an experienced Steel Rebar Estimator to support pre-construction efforts by preparing accurate and competitive bids for reinforcing steel projects.

This is a full-time, direct-hire position offering strong growth potential and the opportunity to work with a collaborative, detail-oriented team.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for reinforcing steel/rebar projects.
• Analyze construction drawings, specifications, rebar placing drawings, and bid documents.
• Perform accurate material takeoffs and quantity estimates.
• Review bar sizes, shapes, quantities, grades, laps, splices, and other project requirements.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing when needed.
• Work closely with project managers, detailers, field teams, and customers.
• Utilize industry-standard estimating software to prepare bids and proposals.
• Participate in bid reviews and value-engineering discussions.
• Track project changes and update estimates accordingly.
• Maintain organized bid documentation and communicate estimating details to the project team.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in rebar, reinforcing steel, or a related construction environment.
• Strong knowledge of reinforcing steel and rebar fabrication/installation processes.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
• Experience performing material takeoffs and preparing detailed estimates.
• Strong understanding of rebar sizes, grades, shapes, quantities, and placement requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience with estimating software or rebar-related software is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and time management.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred, but not required.
• Previous field experience with rebar installation or reinforcing steel fabrication.
• Familiarity with rebar detailing, bar lists, placing drawings, and fabrication processes.
• Experience with project management workflows and construction estimating.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, project managers, detailers, and field personnel.
