Job summary

Qualitate in New York City is seeking a senior engineer focused on real-time and audio systems to own the live interview pipeline end-to-end. You will ship scalable, low-latency voice processing and improve WebSocket infrastructure, with ownership from capture to transcripts and deployment, collaborating with the founding team.

The role requires 5+ years of experience building production-grade real-time software, including audio/voice systems, with a strong backend and frontend skillset.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Production real-time experience with WebSockets, WebRTC, streaming media or similar.
• Audio and voice fluency with latency budgets and turn-taking.
• Strong backend skills with API design for reliability and scale.
• Proactive ownership and architecture decisions in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Real-time backend architecture for live interviews and session management.
• Own the speech-to-text pipeline from audio capture to transcripts.
• Ensure scalability to thousands of concurrent sessions.
• Maintain reliability and observability with graceful degradation.
