Job summary

Qualitate in New York City is seeking a senior engineer to own the live interview pipeline, focusing on real-time and audio systems. You will ship the scalable, low-latency voice pipeline, including capture, streaming, speech recognition, model orchestration, and synthesis.

This is a high-ownership role on a small team; you will work with the founding team on technical strategy and drive reliability and performance under load.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building software, preferably in startup or fast-paced environments.
• Production real-time experience with WebSockets, WebRTC, streaming, or similar.
• Audio pipelines and latency-aware systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Real-time backend architecture evolution for live interviews and scalable session management.
• Speech-to-text pipeline ownership from audio input to transcripts with STT providers.
• Build scalable systems to support thousands of concurrent sessions.
• Ensure reliability and graceful degradation of critical live systems.
