Job summary

Builders FirstSource is seeking a Real Estate Attorney in Austin, TX, to provide strategic legal guidance across real estate operations, disputes, and transactions. The role supports business stakeholders, ensuring compliant handling of leases, acquisitions, dispositions, and related matters.

The ideal candidate will have a JD, 3–5 years of real estate transactional experience, and experience with both law firm and in-house settings.

Qualifications

J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar in good standing.
3–5 years of real estate transactional experience.
Experience in-house and/or at a law firm preferred.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents including leases, amendments, estoppels, sale agreements, easements, SNDAs, demand letters.
Provide counsel to Real Estate Department and operations on real estate matters.
Coordinate real estate due diligence for M&A with outside counsel and internal teams.
Oversee title and survey review and resolve title issues in acquisitions and leases.
Manage landlord–tenant disputes and related real estate matters, directing resolutions with outside counsel.
Identify real estate risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Advise on land use, zoning, permits, and entitlements for facility development.
Evaluate outside counsel for value and efficiency; optimize portfolio management.
Research and evaluate tech tools for Real Estate and Legal departments.
Fulfill other company-related legal functions as needed.
