Job summary

Builders FirstSource, America’s largest supplier of building materials, seeks a Real Estate Attorney to provide legal advisory across real estate operations, disputes, and transactional matters. You will partner with business stakeholders on land use, zoning, and entitlement matters while coordinating with outside counsel.

The role emphasizes strategic guidance, risk mitigation, and compliance with federal, state, and local real estate laws.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate (J. D.) from an accredited law school.
• Minimum three to five years of relevant legal experience, real estate transactional experience required.
• Ideal candidates will have a combination of law firm and in-house experience.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate real estate documents including leases, amendments, estoppels, and purchase agreements.
• Provide counsel to Real Estate Department and field operations on real estate matters.
• Coordinate real estate due diligence for M&A transactions with the Company’s M&A team and outside counsel.
• Oversee title and survey review and resolve title issues in acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing transactions.
• Manage landlord-tenant disputes and related real estate controversies, coordinating with outside counsel.
• Identify legal risks in real estate operations and develop mitigation strategies.
• Ensure compliance with real estate laws and regulations; advise on land use, zoning, and permits.
• Manage and evaluate outside counsel for efficient representation.
