Job summary

Fifth Third Bank seeks a Senior Legal Counsel – Bank Real Estate to support Enterprise Workplace Services across the real estate lifecycle, including ground leases, acquisitions and dispositions, office leases, and ATM leases. You will draft, review, and negotiate complex documents, advise on risk topics, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely, compliant outcomes.

Minimum 5 years' experience preferred, a J.D.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience preferred.
• J.D. from an accredited law school required.
• Admission to a state bar.
• Exceptional organizational and written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to advise and communicate effectively with senior management and internal clients.
• Strong drafting, negotiation, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support to EWS across the real estate lifecycle, including ground leases, acquisitions and dispositions, office leases, and ATM leases.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex ground leases and related documents; advise on risk and business terms.
• Draft, review, and negotiate purchase and sale agreements and related documents.
• Draft, review, and negotiate office and retail leases, licenses, and related real estate documents.
• Interpret real estate agreements and advise on operational, construction, and property-level matters.
• Collaborate with stakeholders on branch acquisitions, dispositions, relocations, renovations, and other initiatives with critical milestones.
• Provide practical, solutions-oriented legal advice balancing legal risk with business objectives.
• Manage outside counsel and a high volume of transactions while maintaining responsiveness and deadlines.
