Job summary

Hitachi Rail in New York is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead multiple projects within a regional context and contribute to overall financial targets. You will oversee project P&L, coordinate resources, and drive performance, ensuring milestones are met and risks are mitigated.

The role requires 15 years in related industries, 5–10 years of PM leadership, and strong English communication. A PMP/IPMA certification and NY-area residence are preferred for this senior position.

Qualifications

• 15 years of experience in related industry or aerospace/technical field.
• 5-10 years as a project manager with people management/leadership experience.
• University degree in Engineering (Electronic, Telecommunications, or Informatics) or equivalent experience.
• Strong CBTC knowledge; New York specifics a plus.
• Previous experience leading international projects in a matrix environment.
• Excellent communication skills; able to deliver under pressure.
• PMP or IPMA certification.
• Located in New York Area; Strong English skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple small to medium projects within the same or similar customer/region.
• Contribute to the company’s financial targets while meeting all deliverables and milestones.
• Drive project execution and control until contract closure; manage performance, costs, schedule, quality, risks & opportunities.
• Coordinate team resources; report on overall project performance with PMO.
• Implement EAC, sales forecasts and risk management; follow Group processes.
• Ensure lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across projects.
• Support transformation plans and training of project skills.
• Foster leadership and a unified path for project teams; maintain clear communication with senior management and customers.
