Qualifications

• Three (3) years relevant Vehicle Maintenance experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years advanced technical training in field of specialization.
• Familiar working in a unionized environment.
• Must possess acceptable attendance, performance and safety records.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Manages a group of employees with minimal direction, schedules work to maximize safety, reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Oversees major rail vehicle overhaul and minor refurbishment programs including preventative maintenance and inspections.
• Controls labor and material expenditures to meet budget; issues material requisitions.
• Communicates with Union personnel and other supervisors to coordinate work activities.
• Maintains records on requisitions, schedules and reports to reduce waste and manpower loss.
• Provides technical assistance for repair/maintenance of rail vehicles and equipment.
• Monitors performance and skill levels of maintenance staff.
• Develops cost-effective maintenance practices and forecasts material/labor needs.
• Ensures a safe, clean and productive work environment.
• Instructs and trains newly hired employees.
