Job summary

Amtrak is seeking a Lead Construction Specialist in New York to oversee and manage complex rail construction projects from conception to completion. You will collaborate with program managers, engineers, contractors and stakeholders to ensure scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety requirements are met on contractual terms.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree with 6+ years of experience, and a preference for CCM or PMP certification.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with 6 years of relevant work experience.
• CCM or PMP certification is preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication and safety focus are essential.

Responsibilities

• Support capital construction efforts by providing technical support to contractor, force account and supervision and ensuring scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety requirements are met.
• Review potential change requests with the Program/Project Manager and prepare change notices with justification.
• Conduct project site visits to assess feasibility, scope requirements and challenges.
• Monitor and report production metrics and status updates.
• Coordinate preparation and revision of technical work procedures.
• Analyze solutions to complex problems per project objectives.
• Perform other duties as required.
