Job summary

The State of Tennessee seeks a lead Radio Communications Technician in Crossville, TN, within the Wildlife Resources department. You will oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of radio systems, ensuring reliable communications for mobile and base units on a complex network.

You will perform preventive maintenance, program frequencies, and supervise on-site activities with vendors, aligning with FCC guidelines and agency requirements.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to one year of vocational/technical coursework plus four years of full-time related communications work.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain radio transmitting equipment and systems (mobile, base, fixed) and related accessories to ensure reliable communications.
• Perform preventative maintenance per FCC guidelines to prevent system failure and ensure compliance with laws and guidelines.
• Program system parameters, talk groups, and frequencies using specialized software for radio networks (P25 IP, microwave, analog).
• Assess daily problems, set work priorities based on service needs, and coordinate with supervisor.
• Oversee vendor/contractor work on-site to meet specifications and safety requirements.
• Coordinate scheduling for installation, removal, and repair of radio systems; enable data sharing for interoperability.
