Job summary

RACOM is seeking a Radio Frequency Technician to install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot RF communications supporting public safety, utilities, and transportation. Based at a local service center, you will primarily support nearby centers with occasional regional travel for installations and training.

The ideal candidate has hands-on electronics experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and clear communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Qualifications

• Hands-on technical experience in electronics or telecommunications.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for RF systems.
• Valid drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for operations and training.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and repair RF equipment and systems.
• Diagnose signal, interference, and hardware issues.
• Perform testing, firmware updates, and system calibration.
• Support emergency vehicle upfits and 12VDC installs.
• Maintain documentation and service records.
• Participate in on-call rotation after training.
• Conduct site surveys and RF coverage tests.
• Ensure FCC and safety compliance.
• Travel as needed for field work and training.
• Provide prompt, professional customer support.
• Collaborate with team members and project staff.
