Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Radar Engineer to support the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command program. You will provide technical leadership for RTR radar operations, sustainment, modernization, and test, coordinating across operations, hardware, software, and data analysis.

You will drive troubleshooting, verify performance, manage baselines, and ensure high availability, while mentoring engineers and communicating with government stakeholders. This role is on-site in Huntsville, AL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Systems Engineering, or related STEM with 12+ years of experience; or a Master’s with 10+ years.
• Significant engineering experience with complex radar/RF sensor systems and related domains (design, RF, antennas, signal processing, calibration, or performance analysis).
• Ability to diagnose complex radar-system performance problems using analysis, data, tests, and root-cause methods.
• Systems engineering experience from requirements to deployment in an operational environment.
• Experience with test planning, procedures, reviews, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience with configuration-controlled operational systems and engineering change processes.
• Strong communication of complex issues to engineers, leadership, customers, and government stakeholders.
• Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations; US citizen with ability to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the program’s lead radar engineering subject matter expert for operations, sustainment, troubleshooting, modernization, integration, and test.
• Analyze radar performance and mission data to identify degradation and opportunities to improve capability and data quality.
• Lead technical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of radar hardware, software, RF, timing, and system-interface problems; drive corrective actions.
• Ensure radar systems meet mission performance, calibration, accuracy, and availability requirements and substantiate readiness.
• Evaluate radar metrics and support post-mission analysis, lessons learned, and corrective actions.
• Analyze reliability/availability metrics; identify actions to improve mission readiness and operate within required availability targets.
• Lead or support modernization studies from definition to deployment, maintaining disciplined configuration management.
• Identify technical risks early and develop mitigation/contingency plans.
