Job summary

ABB’s R&D organization seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to drive innovation in electric motor technologies and products. You will lead design and analysis efforts, collaborate across functions, and help protect intellectual property while delivering robust motor solutions.

With a strong background in electrical engineering and hands-on experience in motor design, you will contribute to technology development, cost optimization, and successful product launches across multiple platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering with at least 12 years of experience in electric motors.
• Knowledge of electric motor technologies, advanced design methodologies (FEA), manufacturing processes, and customer support experience.
• Candidates must be eligible to work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Contribute significantly to technology development, product development, and support of existing products.
• Perform detailed cost-benefit analyses to optimize designs.
• Create electrical designs for industrial motors in accordance with ABB specifications and industry standards.
• Maintain a strong emphasis on motor design methodologies, modeling techniques, test standards, and analysis of motor test data.
• Leverage expertise in motor design to contribute innovative ideas to R&D assignments.
• Ensure appropriate protection of newly created intellectual property.
• Act as a project leader or senior project member, applying engineering tools, processes, and methods.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain on specs, regulatory requirements, and related processes.
• Share knowledge and support colleagues to ensure timely, high-quality results.
