Job summary

ABB in Greenville, SC is seeking an experienced R&D Senior Electrical Engineer to support a team developing electric motor technologies and products. You will lead design activities, analyze test data, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet performance and regulatory standards.

The role emphasizes motor design methodologies, IP protection, and leadership in complex projects, with onsite work and direct reporting to the Director of R&D - Engineer To Order.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years with electric motors.
• Knowledge of motor technologies, advanced design methodologies (FEA), and customer support.
• Regulatory compliance with UL/CSA/CE/IEEE/IEC/NEMA standards.
• Experience with SAP, AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributing to technology and product development and cost-benefit analyses.
• Create electrical designs for industrial motors per ABB specs and standards.
• Lead or participate in projects, protecting IP and applying engineering tools and methods.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain on specs and regulatory needs.
