Job summary

Quantinuum, based in Broomfield, CO, seeks a Sr R&D Manager - Commercial System Manager to lead a diverse team delivering trapped-ion quantum computer designs and hardware. You will blend technical leadership with people management to advance system architecture, validation, and product readiness.

You will mentor engineers, drive cross-disciplinary collaboration, and shape development processes for future generations of quantum systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree minimum.
• 8+ years of experience in technical research and development (graduate school inclusive).
• 5+ years of experience in development and/or operation of AMO and/or QC systems.
• 2+ years leading an advanced technical team (task leadership or personnel management).
• Direct experience with people management in the technical industry.

Responsibilities

• Own the system-level design, build, and development for next generation Quantinuum systems, including architecture, op concept, procurement and construction planning, integration, configuration management and validation before release.
• Guide technical trade studies to reduce project risks and mature concepts into concrete design directions.
• Develop test plans and identify handoffs with subsystem leads (electrical, optical, microfabrication, software, vacuum, cryogenic).
• Establish strategic plans by defining milestones and decision points, handoffs and dependencies with technical partners.
• Own and manage programmatic execution: track progress, allocate resources, prioritize work, and manage risks and opportunities.
• Mentor, coach, train direct-report engineers and scientists; hire staff; plan career development; perform goal setting and performance assessments.
