Quantinuum in Broomfield, CO seeks a Lead Quantum Hardware Physicist to shape the design of next-generation trapped-ion quantum computing systems. You will apply hands-on experience to develop reliable, scalable hardware and contribute to production-ready products within the System Development team.

Qualifications

• PhD must be completed prior to start date.
• 8+ years’ of directly applicable experience (PhD inclusive).
• U.S. Person status required by contractual requirements.
• Candidates must not be a PRC or Russian national unless a U.S. citizen.

Responsabilités

• Apply operational experience with trapped-ion quantum computers to influence design of next-generation systems.
• Shape system-level design decisions to improve reliability, usability, serviceability, manufacturability and performance.
• Define requirements for system monitoring, diagnostics, automation, and software orchestration.
• Collaborate with software, controls, electrical, mechanical, and quantum hardware engineers to translate experience into robust designs.
• Operate and characterize prototype and production quantum computing systems; design experiments to evaluate performance.
• Analyze experimental data to understand system behavior and guide development.
• Review hardware designs, software implementations, and docs to ensure new capabilities improve performance.
• Support system bring-up, first-article builds, customer deployments, and transition to manufacturing.
• Communicate significant results through reviews, publications, conferences, and customer interactions.
