Job summary

LG Magna e-Powertrain USA, Inc. in Michigan seeks a Senior Quality Engineer for Motors to analyze field and warranty motor returns, perform root-cause analysis, and coordinate NVH testing with teams.

You will inspect motors, interpret results, and communicate technical findings to customers and internal stakeholders. The role requires 5+ years in quality or automotive powertrain, knowledge of motor structures, and proven ability to drive corrective actions with data-driven reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related field.
• 5+ years in quality engineering, field/warranty analysis, motor/auto powertrain fields.
• Knowledge of motor structure and failure modes (stator, rotor, windings, bearings).
• Ability to diagnose quality issues from symptoms, data, and customer feedback.
• Ability to select analysis methods including teardown, electrical/mechanical testing, insulation and NVH evaluation.
• Proficient in MS Office and presenting technical findings to customers and teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze field and warranty motor returns, review customer complaints and DTC data.
• Perform initial diagnosis via inspection, electrical checks, insulation checks, and failure data.
• Define analysis scope: teardown, electrical, mechanical, insulation, thermal, NVH.
• Conduct teardown of drive units to inspect rotor, stator, windings, bearings, housing, and cooling path.
• Document failure evidence and degradation; determine root causes at component level.
• Coordinate NVH testing with internal/external teams when suspected and interpret results.
• Prepare technical reports and customer-facing presentations with findings and actions.
• Communicate progress and results to customers, plants, suppliers, and internal teams.
• Oversee or coordinate technician movement and handling of motors and components.
