Job summary

LG Magna e-Powertrain USA, Inc. in Southeast Michigan is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for Motors to analyze field returns and warranty cases for EV and Hybrid drive motors and related components.

You will review customer complaints, perform teardown analysis, and coordinate testing to determine root causes. The role requires motor-focused failure analysis expertise, including electrical, mechanical, insulation, thermal, and NVH domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics or related field.
• 5+ years in quality engineering, field failure/warranty analysis, motor/EV powertrain.
• Knowledge of automotive motor structure and failure modes.
• Ability to travel up to 25% and communicate findings clearly.

Responsibilities

• Analyze field and warranty motor returns and related data to form initial failure hypotheses.
• Perform visual, electrical, insulation, and mechanical inspections on returned motors.
• Coordinate NVH testing with internal teams, suppliers, and external labs.
• Prepare technical reports and customer-facing presentations summarizing findings.
• Lead teardown analysis of drive units and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Coordinate or direct movement and handling of motors and components as needed.
