Job summary

Hensel Phelps seeks a Lead Quality Control Engineer to manage the QC process on projects, applying judgment to recommend quality improvements and enforcing policies in field and office settings.

This safety-sensitive role may mentor junior engineers on large projects, coordinate RFIs, review plans and codes, and support continuous improvement initiatives while upholding Hensel Phelps' standards.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture or construction management.
• Minimum of 3-5 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Strong communication skills.
• Capable of comprehending specifications, standards, and code requirements for multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Review and update the project quality process log (QPL) and provide comments to the QC manager.
• Direct removal and replacement of non-conforming work and stop work not in compliance with the contract.
• Be fully aware of the contract, plans, specifications and applicable codes.
• Submit and review RFIs to ensure changes are implemented in the field.
• Coordinate daily test and inspection schedules with trade partners.
• Participate in work completion tagging, punch list, and pre-final punch list processes.
• Audit trade partner QC procedures and participate in the quality recognition program.
• Contribute to CIP and lessons learned programs.
• Perform safety and housekeeping inspections through the SAFE program.
