Job summary

payabl. is expanding its engineering team and seeks a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable, high‑performance Python microservices. You’ll work on distributed systems, integrate APIs, and deploy on AWS, with CI/CD improvements and strong code reviews.

The role supports remote work from Poland or Cyprus-based onsite arrangements and reports to the Group CTO. You’ll need 5+ years in backend engineering, deep Python, FastAPI/Django, Docker, GitLab CI/CD, and fintech/payments domain

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with Python.
• Experience building and scaling microservices architectures.
• Proficiency with FastAPI or Django.
• Experience with AWS services (Lambda, etc.).
• Strong Docker/containerization experience.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab preferred).
• Knowledge of distributed systems and high-load environments.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent remote collaboration and communication.
• Experience in fintech/payments is a plus.
• Exposure to event-driven architecture (Kafka).
• Mentoring or supporting other engineers.

Responsibilities
