ARETUM Holdings LLC is seeking a Lead Software Engineer/Developer to serve as the hands-on technical lead of an Agile scrum team for a large-scale federal digital content management program. This backend-focused role emphasizes Python/Django services, REST APIs, ETL pipelines, and secure content exchange.

You will mentor a mid-level developer, coordinate with government leads, and ensure code quality, security, and maintainability across PostgreSQL databases, Java components, and cloud

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development experience including lead or senior developer responsibilities.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
• Proven ability to lead technical designs, conduct peer code reviews, and mentor developers.
• Deep backend experience building production services and REST APIs in Python/Django.
• Experience with PostgreSQL data modeling, schema design, and query optimization.
• Experience with AWS, Terraform, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong collaboration with government staff in Agile environments and JIRA.
• Hands-on experience with testing and quality tools in a DevOps environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead of a scrum team on a three-week sprint cadence.
• Design, develop, and unit test Python/Django backend services and REST APIs.
• Build ETL pipelines and metadata exchange workflows across enterprise systems.
• Implement content transfer, authentication, and secure API integration.
• Design relational data models and optimize PostgreSQL schemas.
• Mentor mid-level developers and ensure code quality and security.
• Collaborate with government leads and QA in an Agile process.
• Maintain and extend Java components where needed on the platform.
