Job summary

Aretum is seeking a Software Engineer to join an Agile scrum team for a federal digital content management program. You will develop Python/Django backends, REST APIs, and data transformations, with Java used for legacy components. Frontend work uses TypeScript and React for workflow interfaces, under government collaboration.

Remote-friendly, nationwide, with security clearance requirements; you will own stories from design to production-ready code in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development on Agile teams.
• BS in CS, Software Engineering, IS, or equivalent experience.
• Strong backend experience with Python/Django and REST APIs.
• PostgreSQL experience including queries and schema design.
• Java proficiency to maintain existing components.
• Frontend skills in TypeScript and React.
• Experience with AWS and infrastructure as code (Terraform).
• Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins) and Git.
• Familiarity with Solr/Elasticsearch and accessible UI basics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and unit test Python/Django backends and REST APIs as part of a scrum team.
• Build ETL/data transformation routines between enterprise systems.
• Implement content identification, filtering and workflow triggers.
• Integrate APIs with secure transport and logging for traceability.
• Develop PostgreSQL schemas and perform query tuning.
• Implement asynchronous processing and background jobs.
• Maintain and extend Java components where needed.
• Build backend support for workflow administration and auditing.
• Create accessible UI features with TypeScript/React for admin interfaces.
• Deploy and operate services in AWS, with Terraform and Docker.
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies and participate in code reviews.
