Aretum is seeking a Lead Software Engineer/Developer to guide a backend-focused Scrum team delivering a large-scale federal content management program. You will design and implement Python/Django services, REST APIs, and ETL pipelines, with Java on the side.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development with hands-on lead experience.
• Bachelor-level degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Proven ability to lead technical designs and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong backend development in Python with Django and REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS, PostgreSQL, and microservices architecture.
• Collaborates well with government teams in a remote-friendly setting.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead for an Agile scrum team, coordinating with government stakeholders.
• Design, develop, and unit test Python/Django backend services and REST APIs.
• Build ETL pipelines and metadata exchange components across systems.
• Implement content transfer capabilities with secure API integrations and logging.
• Maintain and extend Java components when required and ensure code quality.
• Mentor mid-level developers and enforce coding standards across repos.
• Participate in sprint ceremonies and collaborate with QA and product owners.
