EUROPEAN DYNAMICS Group is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Python) to lead a data-intensive backend project. You will own an existing codebase, stabilize it, and evolve it for scalable, maintainable architectures.

The role requires handling complex systems and collaborating with semantic engineers on RDF/SPARQL-driven workflows. You will contribute to architecture, documentation, and deployments, with emphasis on code quality, testing, and best practices in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience with Apache Airflow and AWS.
• Data-intensive or integration-heavy systems experience.
• APIs, batch processing, and backend services.
• Configuration-driven systems (XML/JSON/YAML).
• Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
• Experience with legacy codebases.
• Familiarity with RDF/SPARQL/OWL is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyse, understand, and take ownership of an existing Python-based backend.
• Refactor and enhance backend components for maintainability and performance.
• Implement and maintain data processing pipelines and integration logic.
• Collaborate with data/semantic engineers on RDF/SPARQL workflows.
• Contribute to architecture reconstruction and technical documentation.
• Support deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting activities.
• Ensure code quality through reviews, testing, and best practices.
