Job summary

Ferrotec (USA) Corporation seeks a Senior Process Development Manager to lead hands-on thin film deposition efforts using PVD (sputtering and evaporation). The role combines technical leadership with customer demonstrations, cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship of a small team of scientists and engineers in Livermore, CA.

The successful candidate will operate deposition systems, run multi-day acceptance tests, and transfer processes into production, driving improvements with DOE/SPC

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.
• 10–15+ years of hands-on deposition experience (PVD).
• Ability to operate deposition systems and metrology tools independently.
• Strong understanding of process physics and troubleshooting.
• Experience running experiments and analyzing results with DOE/SPC.
• Experience working directly with customers in technical environments.
• Mechanical aptitude to adapt, configure, and troubleshoot equipment.

Responsibilities

• Independently operate PVD systems end-to-end (sputtering/evaporation).
• Design and analyze thin film deposition experiments.
• Lead customer demonstrations and acceptance tests.
• Translate requirements into process solutions and trade-offs.
• Mentor a small team of scientists and engineers.
• Partner with Sales, Applications, and Engineering teams.
