Job summary

Smithfield Foods in the United States is seeking a Sr. Distribution PSM Manager to lead the Process Safety Management program across locations, ensuring accurate documentation and a culture of safety.

You will drive audits, PHAs, incident analyses, and training, coordinating with plant teams to uphold compliance and protect people and processes while achieving operational excellence. Travel up to 75% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of PSM management experience in manufacturing.
• 2+ years of team management or project leadership experience.
• Experience with Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations with emphasis on PSM.
• Extensive knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) methodologies such as HAZOP or What If.
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels and collaborate cross-functionally.
• Travel up to 75% is required.

Responsibilities

• Create, support and implement strategies to strengthen PSM compliance across locations.
• Determine applicability of current and pending regulations related to PSM and ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Partner with plant personnel to manage PSM and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with third-party PSM auditors for audits and reporting.
• Develop and evaluate process/equipment improvements for safety and efficiency.
• Maintain PSM audit schedules, PHA reviews, and Mechanical Integrity testing.
• Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions after incidents; ensure trained contractors for ammonia systems.
• Develop and track PSM KPIs and lead safety activities related to ammonia refrigeration.
