Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Sr. Distribution PSM Manager to lead our Process Safety Management program across operations, ensuring compliance and safety excellence in distribution.

You will champion documentation, regulatory alignment, and a proactive safety culture. Responsibilities include developing strategies, coordinating audits, driving process improvements, conducting root cause analyses, and mentoring teams across locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering or related field required.
• 8+ years of PSM management responsibilities in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of team management/development or project leadership experience.
• Experience with Anhydrous Ammonia Refrigeration.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations with emphasis on PSM.
• Extensive knowledge of Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) methodologies (e.g., HAZOP, What If).
• Ability to read and write in English and communicate effectively at all levels.
• Willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

• Create, support, and implement PSM compliance strategies across locations.
• Monitor regulatory changes and determine applicability to PSM and ammonia systems.
• Collaborate with plant personnel to manage PSM and ensure compliance.
• Coordinate with third-party PSM auditors for audits and reporting.
• Develop process/equipment improvements to improve safety and efficiency.
• Enforce PSM auditing schedules, PHA reviews, and mechanical integrity testing.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement preventive/corrective actions after incidents.
• Develop and track PSM KPIs and train personnel to foster safety culture.

Education
