Job summary

Vylor Des Moines, IA is seeking a Senior Research Associate - Protein Biochemist to develop and scale protein expression, purification, and characterization workflows. The role requires hands-on experience with recombinant proteins, chromatography methods, and analytical biophysics, with potential to mentor junior scientists.

The candidate will troubleshoot complex proteins, design robust workflows, and present findings while maintaining high-quality records in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or related field with 3+ years of protein purification experience or an M.S. with 1+ years.
• Demonstrated expertise in recombinant protein expression, purification, and characterization across multiple expression systems.
• Hands-on experience with chromatography methods using FPLC systems and protein concentration/buffer exchange.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and scale protein expression, purification, characterization, and high-throughput screening workflows for diverse protein engineering candidates.
• Design multi-modal chromatography strategies and troubleshoot expression, solubility, purification, stability, aggregation, and sample-quality challenges.
• Execute biochemical and biophysical characterization (SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, SEC, DLS) and analyze results to guide next steps.
