Job summary

Arcadis is seeking a Lead Protection & Controls Engineer to guide protection, control, SCADA, and automation systems for high- and medium-voltage substations. You will direct multidisciplinary teams, liaise with clients, and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery from concept to commissioning.

You will lead technical discussions, mentor staff, and drive excellence while maintaining safety and quality across projects for utilities, renewables, data centers, and industrial power.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• 12+ years of experience in electric utility, consulting, or power delivery engineering.
• Extensive experience with substation protection and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of protective relays, SCADA systems, communications protocols, and utility standards.
• Experience interfacing directly with clients and leading technical discussions.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of protection and control systems for substations ranging from 12 kV through 765kV.
• Oversee development of protection philosophies, relay applications, settings guidance, and control system architectures.
• Lead development and review of: protection and control one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, protection schematics, and related drawings.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited)

Professional Engineer (PE) license

IEC 61850 process/station bus

NERC PRC standards & utility compliance

SCADA & protective relays knowledge
