Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to lead the engineering design for substation projects in the United States, delivering protective schemes, relay settings, and coordination studies while guiding CAD technicians. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Strong experience in Protection & Control and substation engineering.
• Hands-on experience with relay settings, protection studies, coordination studies, and P&C design.
• Experience with substation circuits, layouts, schematics, and engineering markups.
• Ability to provide technical direction to CAD/design personnel.
• Experience on high-voltage utility or substation projects (approx. 120 kV–760 kV).
• Experience with electric utilities, transmission organizations, engineering firms, or power infrastructure companies.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of IEEE/ANSI, NESC, ASTM standards.
• Ability to lead complex engineering assignments and mentor others.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills across teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead preliminary and detailed engineering design for Protection & Control on substation projects.
• Develop and review protection schemes, relay settings, and coordination studies.
• Provide technical direction to engineers, designers, and CAD technicians.
• Prepare equipment specifications and support proposal evaluations.
• Develop project estimates, budgets, schedules, and resource requirements.
• Coordinate design and equipment delivery with construction schedules.
• Review engineering packages for quality, constructability and documentation.
• Coordinate across disciplines and support field activities during construction.
• Ensure QA/QC, safety, and compliance with standards; maintain engineering records.
