Job summary

Electric Power Engineers, LLC is seeking a Senior Protection & Controls Engineer to lead P&C design across EPC and private-client projects, including substations, data centers, and heavy-load facilities. You will drive conception to IFC, supervise P&C engineers, and mentor junior staff while coordinating with utilities and vendors.

You should bring a strong background in protective relaying, substation engineering and system studies, and be adept at leveraging AI tools to improve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
• 8–10+ years in protection & control engineering in consulting/EPC/detailed design environments.
• Strong substation P&C design knowledge for MV/HV systems.
• Experience with protection tool suites (ASPEN, CAPE, SKM, ETAP).
• Experience leading P&C packages from concept through IFC and field closeout.

Responsibilities

• Develop/review P&C engineering packages for substations, data centers, generation, BESS and other large facilities.
• Develop protection philosophies and schemes for transformers, buses, feeders, lines and generators.
• Set up protection relay settings and coordination analyses.
• Perform short-circuit and coordination studies to support design.
• Lead cross-disciplinary coordination with other engineering teams.
