Job summary

ThinkingAhead Executive Search is seeking a Senior Protection & Controls Engineer for a fully remote US role. You will lead P&C design for high-voltage substations, develop protection logic, and mentor junior engineers while delivering accurate engineering packages.

You will work autonomously, manage multiple deadlines, and collaborate with project teams to ensure adherence to IEEE and NERC standards. PE preferred or achievable licensure.

Qualifications

• 10-12 years of Protection & Controls experience in utility or power delivery.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; power focus preferred.
• Proficiency with transmission and distribution relaying and logic.
• PE license preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Remote work ability and strong deadline management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for transmission and distribution substation protection and control.
• Develop protection schemes, relay settings, and coordination studies.
• Prepare and QA/QC diagrams, wiring, and control panel layouts.
• Perform fault studies and analyze protection scheme operation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
• Support commissioning, troubleshooting, and field activities.
• Ensure compliance with IEEE, NERC, and utility requirements.
