Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Senior Engineer - Protection & Control to design and configure automation, data collection, protection and control subsystems. You will work on extensive electric delivery infrastructure to ensure safe, timely and cost-effective project delivery.

Responsibilities include relay settings design, protection system coordination, disturbance analysis, and leading NERC compliance programs across substation assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equal.
• 5+ years in substations, transmission or protection design and construction.
• Knowledge of fault calculations, protection coordination and modeling.
• Familiarity with OSHA, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, NETA, and NERC standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and collaborate across departments.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay settings design and coordination analysis for protection systems.
• Lead engineers and contractors on protection system settings for projects.
• Analyze disturbance events and deliver fault analysis reports to management.
• Lead NERC compliance programs and participate in audits.
