Job summary

NY STATE ELECTRIC & GAS CORP is seeking a Senior Engineer to design and configure automation, data collection, protection, and control subsystems across a broad electric delivery network. The role focuses on ensuring safe, timely project completion while supporting a large regional grid.

You will lead protection-related activities, coordinate with contractors, and contribute to system reliability and compliance within AVANGRID's framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or technology.
• Minimum 5 years of engineering experience or 3 years in Protection & Control.
• Registered Professional Engineer or eligibility for certification.
• Experience with ASPEN OneLiner, SEL & GE Relay Programming, IEC61850.

Responsibilities

• Perform relay settings design and relay coordination analysis for electric transmission and substation protection systems.
• Lead engineering contractors and consultants performing protection system settings for capital projects.
• Analyze disturbance events and deliver fault analysis reports with actionable recommendations.
• Lead NERC compliance programs applicable to substations and support audits.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve protection and control system issues.
